Amarnath Cave
The sacred Shiva cave at 3,888 m — open for pilgrimage only in July-August, accessible via Pahalgam (5-day) or Baltal (1-2 day) routes.
The Amarnath cave shrine — at 3,888 m in the South Kashmir Himalayas — houses a naturally-formed ice stalagmite, traditionally interpreted as the Shiva lingam. It waxes and wanes with the lunar cycle, peaking around the full moon.
The yatra is open only during July-August (occasionally extending into early September), strictly registered through the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB). All yatris need:
- Mandatory health certificate (we coordinate)
- SASB registration (we book)
- Photo ID (Aadhaar/Passport)
- Age 13-75 (shrine board rule)
Two routes: the traditional Pahalgam route (5 days, scenic, more pilgrims), or the shorter Baltal route (1-2 days, harder but faster, helicopter optional). Our Amarnath Yatra package defaults to Pahalgam for the full pilgrimage experience.
