Hidimba Devi Temple at Manali in cedar forest

Manali

Himachal's most-loved hill station at 2,050 m — Hadimba Temple, Solang Valley, the gateway to Rohtang Pass and the Spiti Valley.

Manali sits at 2,050 m in the Kullu valley — a small town that’s been India’s go-to mountain holiday for fifty years. The Beas river runs through it, the apple orchards line the slopes, and the temples (Hadimba, Manu) anchor old Manali in cedar forest.

The big day trips: Solang Valley (12 km — paragliding, snow point in winter, zorbing), Rohtang Pass (51 km, permit-only, summer-only, snow), and Vashisht (3 km — hot springs and old village). For deeper Himalayan travel, Manali is now the gateway to Lahaul Spiti via the Atal Tunnel (opened 2020).

Our Shimla-Manali and Lahaul-Spiti packages both feature Manali as a base.
