Udaipur was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II of Mewar and has become Rajasthan’s most romantic destination — five interconnected lakes, the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, and the floating Lake Palace (now a Taj heritage hotel) that became globally famous as the Bond villain’s lair in Octopussy.
